WY e-Health Partnership
- WY e-health Partnership
- Role
- Provides oversight to Wyoming’s health information exchange (HIE) efforts
- State Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement Program as administered by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), the Wyoming Governor’s Office has enlisted the WY e-Health Partnership to develop the strategic and operational plans necessary to establish a Health Information Exchange (HIE) for the state of Wyoming.
The draft plans were submitted to ONC in August, 2010, with ONC approval yet to be achieved. - The plans have the following three core goals:
-By 2015, all people in Wyoming will be cared for by a healthcare team that is connected and shares electronic health information using standards-based technologies that promote high quality health
-By 2015, all people in Wyoming will have access to a flexible comprehensive consumer centric health record
-Electronic health care information will be used statewide to develop appropriate public and private policies and responses that promote evidence based, effective and efficient clinical care.
Through a multi-stakeholder input process the “e-Heath Partnership” confirmed an architecture that will enable providers to achieve meaningful use through a technology that supports e-prescribing, clinical laboratory information communication, clinical messaging and communication through interoperability and a Continuity of Care Document, and the ability to support public health reporting. All of these functions will be supported by a Privacy and Security framework that protects the public’s right to confidential and secure information sharing.
Federal funding for the WY HIE is dependent upon approval of the plans by ONC and CMS.
